Match Report

Lightning took on Kilmarnock with both teams missing a couple of players. Although the pregame table problems made the tip off a little late, the game began fairly well for both teams. Kirsty Semple found her shooting touch early and continued to score, hitting 20 in the game. Each team found some joy offensivly within the first couple of minutes until Storm turned on the defence and increased the tempo on offense

End of quarter Storm lead by single digits!

In the second quarter Storm began playing high intensity defence and really found their touch from mid range and the bigs worked very well near the basket to get their points! both Slavica and Debbie made great moves to get into their positions and score the basketball from a high percentage area, including multiple middle of the key jump shots from Slavica. Katie Drain provided instant offense as she came off the bench and hit her first couple of shots, but had to sit for much of the game with an injured ankle! (get well KT)

The third quarter was our best, with the quarter score being 21-0 to Storm. The third time Storm have kept a team to zero points in a quarter this year, and its all down to the effort and intensity. Suzanne Burns kept up her role as on of the leagues best defensive players as she played a great trapping game against the Kilmarnock guards, working well with the other Storm perimeter players...and as the guards and bigs worked well together and communicated well through the whole game, Storm made life easy for themselves and increased the gap

The final quarter was impressive while Storm tried some new material on both O and D, but credit to Kilmarnock particularly their number 12 for continuing to put up good shots! Vikki Scouller also made her Storm league debut and contributed very well on both ends, working well with the other players on defence, and making many of her 2nd half shots

Every single player 1 through 8 deserves a mention in this game for a team win! good job ladies

Lightning now face two games next week, one against top of the league Glasgow Uni
