Match Report
The Ladies then, after a team meal and night out, spent the night in the Barrow facility and took part in some team building games before playing the Barrow under 18s NL team at 10am Sunday morning.
The sunday game got off to a slow start, with storm going scoreless for the first 3 minutes, however with some lucky breaks and better organisation defensivly, we held the Thorns scoreless for the entire quarter, and managed to rack up 14 points to proceed to the 2ns quarter 14-0 up.
After some offensive adjustments, Storm managed to soon find their way to the basket and run through the plays finding joy, and found the offensive touch from the day before, and scored another 18 points in the second quarter, dispite giving up 11. Storm up 21 going into the 2nd half
The 3rd quarter was a close quarter with the Home Team hitting some three point baskets and free throws, but storm managed to win the quarter 15-12, therefore going into the 4th with a healthy lead.
Alicia McFadden (game MVP ) lead the team defensivly with double digits in steals, an impressive statistic. Her energy was matched by the rest of the team and Storm Ended the last quarter on a 25-4 run to push the scoreline to 71-30 to the travelling Storm Team.
The defensive energy towards the end of the game was fantastic, and once Storm managed to find their rhythm offensivly, we appeared on a role. I am delighted with the energy, hard work and overall teamwork shown this weekend and look forward to finishing preseason off and proceeding into the 2009/2010 season!
