Match Report
Lightning rushed to St Margarets tonight and dispite running late, and luckily managed to strip up 7 players in time for tip off.
The lack of warm up and rushing meant that Storm didnt settle in well in the first quarter but credit to Cumbernauld who hit their shots and played solid defence. Storm finally rallied into some good shooting to win the quarter 16-9
The second quarter was better for Storm, we moved the ball inside and out and managed to run the floor and get some buckets, and were consistant from mid range. The bigs rebounded the ball well on both ends to give us extra opportunities
Half time was a time to regroup and realise where our strengths were and some excellent long range shooting mixed with our patient bigs made for a great second half, most importantly Storm worked hard on defence to hold Cumbernauld scoreless for the final quarter which definalty was a highlight of the game.
Other highlights included Kirsty Semple's shooting in the game, from everywhere on the court, with a game high 17 points, Kirsty definatly looked comfortable with every open look and knocked them down. Debbie Strangs effort on both ends was excellent for 16 points and numerous great defensive plays !
Rhona Mitchell was todays game MVP with her season high 10 points, but filled the stat sheet with steals, rebounds, assists and most importantly Lightnings first charge of the season! Rhona brought fantastic energy and worked hard for every minute she was on the court.
Slavica Zelenovic had a solid performance as ever with 14 points and double digit rebounds and even included 4/5 steals, and Jill Pytko ran the floor very well, making lay ups with both hands, including an impressive hook shot in traffic !!! Jil also played high intensity defence to help Storm rally to an impressive second half!
Great win Lightning to go 3-0! :)
