Match Report
Lightning came out a little slow in the first quarter but credit to Thunder who played good defence, mixing between a man and zone to keep Lightning guessing! Rhona Mitchell kept Lightning ahead with some great drives and aggression on offence
Towards the second quarter both teams began scoring a little more, and there were a few runs throughout the quarter
In the second half, Lightning opened up the 12 point gap to around 20 as they got great stops and began running the floor for easy buckets, however Thunder stayed with it and made some backdoor layups and saw the bigs linking up well !
The fourth quarter was all about transition, as Lightning picked up the defence, and Jill Pytko hustling hard; Lightning seemed to hit most of their shots and stepped up a gear, taking advantage of a tired home team and made some baskets from 2 on 1 or 3 on 2s.
With Alicia McFadden and Slavica Zelenovic high scoring in the game, Lightning used good ball movement and a good drive and kick game to contribute to the win
Credit to both teams who played a friendly but competative game, looking forward to the return leg
Lightning wish captain Katie a fast recovery from her hand injury and look to the New Year :)
