Match Report
The Thunder ladies took on Kilmarnock tonight without their starting Center, but started ready with a lot of energy.
The first quarter seen Storm hit a few jump shots and most importantly keep the opposing bigs off the boards, but as the game progressed Kilmarnock found their way into the key for high percentage looks, mostly from their 2 starting bigs, who towered above our forwards!
The second quarter seen Kilmarnock go on a 16-0 run, with Storm finding it difficult to score, and keep them off the boards, but a quick regroup and a 10-0 run of our own, Storm ended the half down only 1.
The third quarter seen great bench minutes from Storm. The younger players and new guard Lynne Wightman proved the answer to our problems, when they applied pressure defence and seemed to score every long range shot they put up, ending the 3rd quarter up 5.
The fourth quarter seen a run by Kilmarnock to bring it within 1, but Storm hit some big shots and got some very important rebounds late in the game to see it out, and win by 5 points!
Credit to everyone on the Thunder team, everybody worked harder than we have ever worked before, and our high % shooting in the second half gave us the win we really deserved!
